Micro-Irrigation: Sustainable Growth

Roman, a 54-year-old widowed mother of four, is a beneficiary of Glimmer's micro-irrigation program. An open hand dug well was constructed to enable her to irrigate her land despite dry weather conditions.

With income earned from crop production, Roman has paid off her loan, purchased a water pump of her own to irrigate her tomatoes, bought a cow and ox, purchased a second plot and bought a radio. She has been able to put all her children through school, including her youngest son who was born with a hearing disability and attends a special school for disabled children in a nearby town.

Her plan is to expand even more and eventually put a roof on her house.
