When asked about which school she prefers, the new or the old, Yeshalm’s response is immediate: “This one!”

Now in 5th Grade, Yeshalm has been attending the new school Glimmer built since its doors opened two years ago. Her favorite thing about the new school is having a seat to sit on, and a desk. In her old dilapidated school she sat on the mud-packed floor. She now attends school every day.

“I am learning more here,” she says, “Better teachers come here.”

Yeshalm’s family lives 10 minutes away from the school in Girargie village. This enthusiastic 10 year old lives with her parents, sister, and brother who is currently sick at home. After she graduates, she wants to help keep her village safe by serving as a policewoman.
