I am posting this campaign on behalf of my daughter Eva, as she is 6 years old. She and I are always working on a project and she came up with a good one, albeit lofty. My wife volunteers 2 days a week at A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, consulting on their social media. As a consequence, she will often have images from Ethiopia on her computer. Eva recently saw some pictures of children in rural Ethiopia fetching water from a dirty water source, which led to a discussion of why they weren't just getting it from the tap, the store, or other places. To make a long story short, Eva is dedicated to raising money in order to build a well in rural Ethiopia. Exploring several ideas, she and I decided to do a holiday can food drive “A Well Intended Food Drive”. She is seeking sponsors to give a set amount per can of food donated to Purlpe Sage Elementary School. This would benefit both the Capital Area Food Bank as well as help obtain her goal of raising the money to dig a well. All the of food obtained from the drive would be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank of Central Texas and the money raised for the well would actually be given directly to A Glimmer of Hope Foundation in order to have the well made. We are seeking the following types of support for her campaign: 1) Sponsors to give a set amount of per can donated to Purple Sage Elementary School, last year approximately 1,000 cans were donated. 2) Businesses to conduct their own Holiday Food Drive, and offer a donation per can of food given. 3) Businesses to donate a gift certificate in order to go to the student(s) who collect the most cans of food during the Campaign. As our 10/6/2010, Eva has spoken with and convinced the Continental Automotive Group (Austin Infiniti, Austin Subaru, First Texas Honda, Mercedes Benz of Austin, and Continental Collision) to participate in a Holiday Food Drive. Several Salesmen are supporting Eva in her efforts to raise money for the Well, for which we are very appreciative. As parents we strive to help our children achieve their goals, especially when it is for a good cause. We hope that you will be able to help us in this Well Intended Food Drive. Eva would be available most days after school (3:00 p.m.) to discuss her campaign, except for Tuesday as she has Girl Scouts on this day and every other Thursday, because of Chess Club.
