(We reached our goal of $2,000 and I have raised it to $3,000!! We did our walk on March 26th and it went great! Video to come.)
We are joining with other families to reach the ultimate goal of raising $20,000 to dig 3+ wells in Ethiopia.
What is the "walk for water?" A group of families (including parents and our children) are gathering on Saturday, March 26th, and are going to walk 2 miles to collect water for our day's use and will walk the 2 miles back home. That entire day we will only be able to use the water we collect for all of our water needs---cooking, washing dishes, drinking, teeth brushing, bathing, etc. Not only will it give us a sobering glimpse into the reality of Ethiopian women and sometimes children who have to walk every day to gather their water and use it wisely, but we are hoping that folks will support us as we do this by donating money to A Glimmer of Hope. I'm making our official goal $2,000, but I would be thrilled if we surpassed that number!
A Glimmer of Hope helps lift women and children out of extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. Using an entrepreneurial model it provides clean water, schools, health clinics and micro-finance loans, one village at a time. 100% of all donations go directly to funding these projects. Glimmer’s endowment covers all its operating expenses and even replaces credit card transaction fees. Every dollar donated through Glimmer reaches the people in need. Over the last 10 years, Glimmer has completed more than 5000 projects and improved 2.4 million lives.
