In 2009, my husband and I felt a strong calling to a young boy in Ethiopia. We knew this child of God was meant to be part of our family. Through the process, we, along with our older son, had the opportunity to go and be among the people of Ethiopia for a short time. That is all it took to realize we HAD to do more. Since arriving home about one year ago, we just knew there was something more we should be doing for Ethiopia - but what? Our older son had it on his heart to help bring clean water to the people. God had laid it on his heart to donate some of his own money to help dig wells in different regions throughout Ethiopia. But we felt pulled in several different directions of need and spent many hours praying and thinking about what direction God might be leading us in. God answered prayer in a big way when we "stumbled" upon a link to Julie's campaign (Dig Deep) through A Glimmer of Hope. This is the answer. This is exactly where God wants us to be. We talked as a family and just knew we had to get on board and do everything we can to help these beautiful people survive. It only makes sense that everyone should have clean water.
Please help us bring clean water to EVERY village in Ethiopia starting with Chuko Weyama. Chuko is located in Southern Ethiopia within the Sidamo Region where our son was born. We are partnering with A Glimmer of Hope and Julie Neal's "Dig Deep" campaign in hopes to save lives through the access of clean water. A Glimmer of Hope is a non-profit organization which has been providing clean water, health clinics, schools, and micro-finance loans for the past 10 years to help lift families out of extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. 100% of all donations go directly to funding the projects identified by A Glimmer of Hope. Glimmer's endowment covers all its operating expenses, right down to even applying the transaction fees of credit card donations directly to the projects! Every dollar donated through A Glimmer of Hope reaches the people in need. Glimmer has completed more than 5,000 projects that have impacted 2.4 million lives in Ethiopia!
Although our current goal is to raise $50,000, this is just a start. We must not stop until everyone has clean water. Please consider digging deep with us! It is our hope that some day we can stand among the people of Ethiopia giving them hope through the access of clean drinking water, as well giving them hope of obtaining living water through faith in Jesus Christ. They both save lives - literally!
