Welcome to the Strides for Africa campaign page. We hope to see you on August 20, 2011 at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin to participate in Strides for Africa, which kicks off the African Association of Madison's Africa Fest. We plan to put all proceeds from this year's Strides For Africa towards a water project in rural Ethiopia. We currently have a goal to raise $5,000 in year 2 working with Glimmer to help bring clean water and sanitation to the people of a yet to be determined location in Ethiopia in 2012. Strides For Africa is focused on maximizing the impact of participant and donor contributions, and then shows the progress and eventual impact of the contributions through picture and video updates through project completion. If you are new to Strides for Africa in 2011, we raised $4,524 during the inaugural event in 2010, which will fully fund a water well installation in the rural Ethiopian village of Robit. See the featured campaign video for images from 2010 Strides for Africa.
It is anticipated that the water well will be installed in the 2011 calendar year as part of a larger effort that will completely transform Robit. See Robit prior to transformation from 2010.
Below is a link to the first video update from Robit (April 2011), including the contruction of a hand dug well.

A Glimmer of Hope lifts women and children out of extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. Using an enterpreneurial model it provides clean water, schools, health clinics, and micro-finance loans, one village at a time. 100% of all donations go directly to funding these projects. Glimmer's endowment covers all its operating expenses and even replaces credit card transaction fees. Every dollar donated through Glimmer reachs the people in need. Over the last 10 years, Glimmer has completed more than 5000 projects and improved 2.4 million lives.
