I capture smiles for a living as a photographer.
But in the many faces I've photographed, I have seen no greater joy then in the precious smiles of those in Africa!
As many of you know, from time to time I have had opportunities to travel to Africa and photograph. This past summer, I traveled with my dear college friend Emily Hill Alexander to Ethiopia, to see first hand how A Glimmer of Hope is making a difference in extreme poverty in rural parts of Ethiopia!
In the picture for this campaign you will see the JOY, the tears and the emotions we witnessed as these beautiful people received the gift of water for the first time. It was so humbling. A 75 year old man broke down in front of my camera, crying tears of joy for his village because clean water had finally come! Something he never thought would happen in his lifetime!
WATER. It is something we daily take advantage of having, using, even wasting, yet often we forget it is such a gift! I witnessed women who would walk MILES only to draw dirty, contaminated water for their families.
We have an opportunity to change that for one village!!
There is an area in the South of Ethiopia called Dube Bute. My friends Emily and Moody have an adopted son, Eyasu from that village. He has a biological brother, uncle and cousins currently living in Dube Bute which has many NEEDS!
What if you knew your son had a relative living in extreme poverty...what would you do to help?
