After a year working as an intern at A Glimmer of Hope I have the great privilege of joining the staff full time, and what better way to celebrate my birthday, graduation, and new job at Glimmer than a campaign to help bring clean water to the people of Chuko? I recently returned from a trip to Ethiopia which allowed me to see first hand the impact that Glimmer's projects have on rural communities. One day of the trip I had the opportunity to follow some women as they walked their daily route, nearly half an hour, to gather dirty, leech-filled water from a polluted source. This daily reality has serious consequences for the health and well being of women, children, and families all across Ethiopia, including the community of Chuko in the Southern Region. Help me to improve the lives of this rural community by providing clean water; clean water that will help the people of Chuko to lift themselves out of poverty. With the help of many others, this campaign will support a deep borehole project, which will provide enough water for five water points located throughout the community of Chuko - all offering clean, fresh water!
A Glimmer of Hope is a non-profit organization which has been providing clean water, health clinics, schools, and micro-finance loans for the past 10 years to help lift families out of extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. 100% of all donations go directly to funding the projects identified by A Glimmer of Hope. Glimmer's endowment covers all its operating expenses, right down to even applying the transaction fees of credit card donations directly to the projects! Every dollar donated through A Glimmer of Hope reaches the people in need. Glimmer has completed more than 5,000 projects that have impacted 2.4 million lives in Ethiopia!
