My family and I have decided to join with our friend, Jeff Greene, to give to those less fortunate. What a better way to help others than to provide fresh water for the impoverished Tercha district of southern Ethiopia. Having personally traveled to Africa in 2005, I have witnessed the life, health and hope that water provides a community. A well costs $4,750 and will provide fresh water for between 500 and 1,000 people…it’s only about $7 to give one person a lifetime of water. I spent that much at Starbucks this morning. Imagine for a moment…Over 250,000 people in Ethiopia die each year due to water borne illnesses, most of them young children. The gift of clean water will have a dramatic effect, especially to the women who fetch contaminated water. They have no other option but to give this water to their children to drink, knowing that it could make them sick. We have a wonderful opportunity to make an impact for the people of Tercha. Please review the attached video that shows Jeff’s September 2010 return to witness the results of his efforts to raise money to build a school, hospital and drill 10 wells. It’s truly amazing.
