Dear friends and family,
Hi I’m Samantha ,I’m nine in a half years old with my birthday coming soon in march. I have a little sister Grace who is 18 months old, and just recently was adopted from Ethiopia in May. Grace is so special to me so I immediatly “adopted” Ethiopia in to my heart. I have been studying Ethiopia a lot in school and sometimes in my free time. One of the things I’ve noticed while studying is Ethiopia really struggles with getting clean water. They have to walk at least 4 miles to get the water and then come back and most of the time it’s not even close to being clean! And without water kids and adults get really sick. In fact 50% of Ethiopians are living with water borne diseases. Another sad thing is 1 out of 10 kids die before their first birthday because of water borne diseases. I feel terrible that kids have to live their lives sad and feeling hopeless.
My goal is to raise $1,000 for my campaign called Drips of Hope. I hope this lets the Ethiopians know there is hope. I plan to raise this money by:
· Having money donated for my birthday instead of getting gifts.
· Bumping the volleyball 500 times to myself and hoping to get pledges for $1 per bump.
· Selling my old clothes and books.
Please help me reach my goal and bring hope and clean water to Ethiopia.
Love,
Samantha L Garrett
