Internships

Glimmer interns are critical to our movement. Our staff is driven by the cause to help women and children living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia. We’re looking for energetic, hard working interns to join our close-knit team. If you’re interested in using your skills to help fight poverty, we want to hear from you. Hours and schedule flexible.

Glimmer welcomes professionals who would like to use their experience and skills to join our movement to help women and children in Ethiopia escape extreme poverty. Currently we are looking for professionals with the following expertise:

Video Editor Intern

Are you interested in maturing as a video editor, strengthening your portfolio and using your storytelling skills to help change the world? Glimmer is looking for a Video Editor Intern who will assist in editing content for a variety of short videos. There may also be opportunities to shoot short videos. You’ll focus on telling stories through video that engage and educate Glimmer’s supporters.

position:

  • Work with our team to storyboard and create stories that change the lives of thousands in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Edit video content, including music and footage from Ethiopia
  • Shoot footage of interviews and activities in the Austin office
  • We’re seeking a candidate who is:
    • handy with footage from multiple formats, including traditional video camera, DSLRs and iPhone
    • skillful with color correction to drive consistency between different footage sources
  • Basic photo editing and graphic design skills, a plus

your organization skills intimidate Martha Stewart. You stay organized throughout the duration of a project, and are able to juggle multiply projects at a time. You’re a firm believer that every detail matters.

you get things done. You’re a pro at meeting deadlines. If you don’t know, you ask questions and get what you need to get the job done. You communicate early on if there is a problem. You don’t just show up, you perform your best.

smarty-pants. You have the education and work experience to back up your mad skills as a video editor.

tech savvy. You’re computer literate with Mac experience including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Communications Intern

Glimmer is looking for a Communications Intern who will assist in a variety of communications and marketing projects and help organize our media content libraries. You will be asked to contribute and add to ongoing team projects that focus on efficient communication with Glimmer’s supporters.

  • Create organization systems for our media content libraries
  • Conduct research on successful marketing tactics
  • Write copy and assist with visual storytelling

You’re tech savvy and an AP stylebook wizard. You’re computer literate with Mac experience including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You love grammar and know where to put an Oxford comma. A basic knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Google AdWords are a plus.
