Kathryn Yeager | WASH Project Manager (Ethiopia)

I joined the Glimmer team in May of 2010 as an intern with the programs department and was instantly hooked. I’ve always known that I wanted to do something with my life that served people, but I had no idea I would find a place that did just that so early in life. I completed my undergraduate degree in human development at UT, and then continued my education at The LBJ School of Public Affairs. I graduated from LBJ in May of 2011 with a Master’s in Global Policy Studies, focusing in international development and was fortunate enough to land a position with the programs team in Glimmer’s office in Ethiopia. As WASH project manager I work collaboratively with our project officers to track the status of our programs and to keep information about projects current and up-to-date.

It has been a dream of mine to live and work overseas for a long time and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to live in a place as full of life and love as Ethiopia. I am so proud of the work that we do and the grace and integrity with which we do it. I look forward to experiencing life in Ethiopia and learning as much from our amazingly joyful staff in Addis as I have from my coworkers in Austin. The way I see it, my most important job while in Ethiopia is to be a student of the people, of our team, and of the work we do.

I know of only one duty, and that is to love.Albert Camus
